Do what you love: Top 5 advantages of doing work in alignment with who you are

How much do you like it when you’re forced to be someone other than who you truly are?
I guess not too much…

Because going against your natural grain demands an extra, constant amount of energy on your part, it is really draining. And thus it’s not sustainable.

On the contrary, doing work that is in alignment with who you are, has many, many advantages. These are the top 5 that come to mind, but I’m sure there are others that I haven’t listed here.

Top 5 advantages of doing work that is aligned with who you are.

1). Increased levels of satisfaction and happiness.

There is more wisdom in you than you think. While you’re doing the things that come naturally to you, your brain and body get to do what they love.

And since they want you to do more of those, they reward you with good feelings.
That’s Nature’s wisdom at work!

2). Your contribution can be bigger and better.

When you are doing what comes naturally, you can add more value to others. It’s easy for you to offer higher quality services or products than those who don’t share your natural gifts. It makes sense, right?

3). It raises your self-esteem.

Knowing that you are making a difference by just being you, will fill you up with a sense of congruence.
This strengthens you and makes you more confident in your abilities to deliver great work for your clients.

But that’s not all.

That sense of congruence is not only a deep inner knowing you have, it will also be unconsciously perceived by others.
And it’s incredibly powerful!

4). You can easily reach higher levels of performance.

What you do naturally well feels effortless most of the time.
But what happens when you put effort into developing those talents?

You’re not starting from scratch. You’ve trained yourself into doing that since you were very little.

We can spot natural tendencies in little children. For example, I remember I could see how much my niece cared for others since she was around one. She would share her food with anyone who would ask her, and she would also show high levels of empathy.

So know this: you’ve been developing your natural talents since a young age. And that’s a great advantage. It can propel you forward much farther and faster than those who aren’t naturals at your thing.

5). More opportunities will appear in front of you.

As long as you do your thing and show up in the world, people will notice the great quality of your work. Doors will open up for you to continue doing more of it.

Like I said before, I’m sure Career Alignment has some more advantages (like being able to demand higher fees)

But in order to align your career or biz with who you are, you have to know yourself first, right?
That’s why I write so much about figuring out your natural gifts and talents in this blog. And I’ll continue doing it.

In fact, I’m giving the final touches to  “Your Personal Map to Meaning” Quiz. It’s a tool I’ve designed to help you get in touch with who you really are.
